Judge Amoroso has served as one of the judges for Rome City Court for eleven years and has been designated as an Acting County Court Judge and an Acting Family Court Judge. As Rome City Court Judge, he has presided over hundreds of criminal cases, landlord-tenant cases, civil cases, and small claims cases. He also presides over the Oneida County Drug Treatment Court, and has presided over felony DWI cases, Family Court cases, and Mental Hygiene Law cases.

Judge Amoroso is the Supervising Judge for City Courts in five counties, supervising seven city courts and thirteen city court judges. He is the chairperson of the Oneida County Alternatives to Incarceration Board and also serves on the board of the New York State Associations of Treatment Court professionals. He is a frequent lecturer at the New York State Judicial Institute. Prior to his appointment and subsequent election to the bench, he served as the Oneida County Attorney, the Rome Corporation Counsel, and a partner in the law firm of Saunders Kahler.
